Currently hiring:

Employment Services Coordinator

Status: 30 hours a week

Start date: November 10, 2018

Primary purpose of this position:

Assisting Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) and Refugee Cash Assistance recipients, along with other individuals with refugee and asylum status to achieve self-sufficiency by providing job search assistance, career counseling and employment case management. Primary responsibilities include working closely with participants to identify barriers to employment, developing individualized employment plans, documenting participants’ employment-related activities, assisting to resolve other barriers to employment, and maintaining case note and database requirements. Employment Services Coordinator must establish cooperative relationships with the participants, employers, MFIP and RCA counselors, county public assistance case managers, and partner agencies. The Employment Services Coordinator must understand and follow all MFIP and RCA program and related policies and fulfill the program outcome goals

Duties and responsibilities
  • Meet with clients to determine eligibility for programs.
  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments of participants that identify strengths, resources, skills, and barriers to employment.
  • Regular develop, review, and update participant employment plan based upon assessment information.
  • Create and manage case notes.
  • Track client outcomes and enrollment numbers, double-checking with county numbers.
  • Work collaboratively with County Financial Assistance and the Child Care Units.
  • Meet all program performance goals.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of relevant MFIP and RCA-related policies including federal, state and county.
  • Seek out and maintain updated knowledge of labor market and employment trends, employment and training providers and programs, and other employment resources.
  • Provide client referrals for appropriate services to resole barriers to employment.
  • Provide orientation to participants regarding U.S. workplace culture and expectations.
  • Assist to develop a work readiness-training curriculum.
  • Provide and/or arrange transportation, interpretation, assistance completing paperwork, and follow-up with clients to facilitate access to available refugee services and resources.
  • Report progress and activities to the program manager and occasionally board members.
  • Document barriers that participants face in accessing or maintaining employment and regularly update BCOM board with this information.
  • Complete any other assigned duties.

Formal work environment and schedule:
  • Monday-Friday, six hours a day.
  • Occasional weekend events.
  • Some duties will require driving and external appointments
  • Other activities will be completed in the office
  • Employment services coordinator will be expected to present themselves in a professional manner and dress according to client, employer, and other BCOM external customer norms.
